The Big Apple, New York needs no introduction. It is a place that almost all travelers are familiar with, and somewhere that’s on every bucket list. Or if it’s not, it should be: it’s one of the world’s most amazing places! The only problem with planning a trip to New York may be transport, especially as it can be seriously expensive.

When visiting the metropolis that is New York City, you want to be able to make the most of your time there. This means it’s essential to get your transport sorted before you arrive, so that you can focus on having heaps of fun while you’re there. The question is, what’s the best way to get around and see the sights?

How will you get there?

The first question that you need to answer is how you will get there. New York is home to lots of different airports, including JFK and Newark. That means that if you opt to arrive by airplane, you have to choose which airport to fly into. Pick the one that’s nearest to your accommodation: this will make your transfer of choice quicker and less expensive. Another option is to drive to New York in a hire car and to use it to get around and see the sights. You could also opt to take a train or a bus; this will just depend on where you’re coming from and what your budget is for your trip.

Are you traveling as part of a group?

Who are you traveling with? Are you traveling as part of a large group? If so, you could consider renting a bus to get around the city, or at least simply to get to and from the airport. This would help to keep your transport costs low, as the overall price of the bus could be split among the entire group. You may also be able to use it for group outings and excursions to keep your transport costs even lower. To get an idea of how much it would cost to rent a bus, have a browse online.

How will you see the sights?

New York has a fantastic subway system that can take you all over the city for a small price. There are also plenty of service buses and taxis on offer. You could also opt to walk around the city – something that’s doable if you stay close to the heart of New York. You could even join a walking tour that will show you all of New York’s most amazing sights and attractions. If you want to ensure that you’re able to get around easily, it’s best to research each of these options beforehand to see whether they’re suitable for you and the places that you want to visit.

How you opt to get to and around New York City is up to you and will depend on a range of factors, from the location that you’re coming from to what it is that you want to see and do while you’re there.
