InterRailing

For those of you who are thinking of travelling during your gap year, InterRailing is definitely something to consider. If you’re thinking of heading to Europe and seeing where you end up, it might be worth planning an InterRail trip. You can buy a ticket that covers the whole of a single European country, such as France, or a pass that allows you to travel all of the countries that take part. This will cover most of the ‘transportation’ part of your travels, leaving you just to plan the route.

Seeing The Sea

If you’ve seen a lot of Europe or you want to travel further afield while you’re young, free and unattached, then why not head to Australia? Water babies and lovers of sea creatures will want to check The Great Barrier Reef off of their bucket list at some point in their life, so why not during your gap year?

Making A Difference

Sometimes, simple travelling just isn’t enough. If you’ve been on a few holidays that you’ve loved, or have already been backpacking before, you might want to try something a little different. So, why not do something that can make a difference in the world? Volunteering is a really rewarding way to spend your gap year. There are so many programs available across a wide range of countries. If you love animals and want to help out in any way you can, Volunteer Abroad with The Great Projects.

Eating

This one might be a winner with the foodies out there. If you feel like you need to experience more of the world (and its incredible range of cuisines) before you start university or embark on your career path, take a foodie tour of the world. You can take a look at what other people have done, or figure out the cuisines you’d like to try and plan your own itinerary. One thing’s for sure, you’ll have an experience of a lifetime.

Surviving

Perhaps you’re craving something raw and real, something completely different from the lifestyle you currently lead? If you’ve just finished your studies, what could be more different than island life? Perhaps your perfect gap year is all about surviving. You might want to head to an island that sounds like home and work or travel, or, you might want to try your hand at living each day as it comes.
