Knowing that you want to travel is the first step on your big adventure. The experience only means something if it’s a journey you’ve been passionate about undertaking for a long time. Of course, perhaps you’ve no idea how to go about travelling, and that’s what has always deterred you from taking the big plunge. Do you go alone? Do you treat it as a holiday or an exploration? Do you stay in one place or keep moving?
If you’ve got the travel bug, you’re likely not bothered by how you see the world; all that matters is that you do see it eventually! Sometimes all we need is a little push in the right direction and a little motivation to finally take that initial plunge. Well, if you’re struggling for inspiration as to how you should be travelling, here are some unique ways in which you could see the world that might just give you the extra push to go and do it.
Jobs that entail travel
As suggested over at camilleinwonderlands.com, travel doesn’t always have to be about holidaying. It could be your work. Instead of struggling on in that dull, tiresome 9-to-5, you could be doing what you love and making money for it. That sounds like a pipe dream, of course, but it’s true. So many jobs require travel. Working on a cruise ship, for example, is a great way to see places all around the world as part of your work. You’ll work hard on the ship, but will also get to play hard when the cruise liner moors at each dock. For the travel junkie, it’s a no-brainer really. You can travel endlessly, because you’ll be earning a living from doing so!
Not every holiday has to be relaxing. Perhaps you’re raising your eyebrow quizzically, but bear with me on this one. Sometimes a holiday can be adventure. It’s exhausting, but it’s still exciting; just a different kind of “exciting” from, say, chilling out on a beach. Of course, it all depends on your personal definition of adventure, but you could start by looking into sites such as offthebeatenpath.com for help finding a travel guide to show you the best things to see, wherever you might be thinking of travelling.
A road trip
Of course a road trip in itself isn’t necessarily a unique or inventive way of travelling, but the transport you hit the road with could still benefit from a little innovation. If you’re travelling along long, winding country roads, an article on smartertravel.com suggests that a house caravan could be perfect as a car during the day and a home in the evening.
If you’re venturing to exotic and distant lands, your road trip could take place by dogsled or camel; it really doesn’t have to be an ordinary adventure. As explained on vergemagazine.com, even a standard trip in a standard car, if you share with friends both old and new, can become an adventure. It’s all about the experience, but it doesn’t hurt to have a fun mode of transport.
Live in a treehouse
As bonkers as this might sound, staying in a treehouse hotel, as suggested on blog.tortugabackpacks.com, is much more exciting than your bog-standard middle-of-the-city hotel. Not only will you feel as one with nature, but you’ll get to stay in nature. Of course, unlike the treehouse in your back garden, these hotels do come with modern amenities. It’s not cheating, really…
