Sometimes in our lives, offers and opportunities come up totally last-minute. In fact, they’re so last-minute you could call them last-second! When this happens, you have two choices. You could say no to the adventure: maybe it’s not the right time, or you don’t have the funds. Or… you can say yes! The latter option is definitely more daring and exciting. So it’s not surprising that most of us, in these situations, are tempted to plug for the latter! However, can you say yes without the stress? Yes, you can. Here’s how!
Be sure that you get as much information on the adventure as possible. Call whoever it is who has offered you the opportunity and pick their brain. Why? Because it is highly likely that the more info you know, the more you will be able to relax! Find out the big W’s, at the very least. Where are you going, when are you going, what are you doing there, who is going to be there? Also, find out as much as you can about the journey! Write down everything you are told, from train times to airport terminals. Writing things down helps you remember them too! Knowing even the tiniest details highly reduces the chances of you getting something wrong. There isn’t time to go to the wrong airport or take the wrong coach!
Of course, if the adventure has come upon you last-second, you might also have to stay up late packing and preparing. You might even not have the time (or be too excited) to sleep altogether! If this is the case, you’ll want to grab a few items that will let you sleep once you’re safely en-route. Find the best travel pillow for you, along with some earplugs in case you have noisy neighbors or friends! If you need it to be dark, take an eye mask with you.
When it comes to packing your other essentials, you may only have time to grab the absolute essentials. So no, you can’t spend half an hour in front of your bookshelf picking the best book to read! Here is what you must take: clean underwear for one. Pack any medication or medical items, and your passport plus another form of identification. Take your technology, whatever that may be, along with any chargers or protective cases. Also, think about money, and which bank cards you should take. You can buy things like clothes, toiletries, and makeup at the airport or once you arrive. However, things like medication are much harder to get a hold of.
A final note on saying yes. Once you have committed, you might get some twinges of regret! Am I ready, you might ask yourself? Is this a stupid thing to do? Well, as long as it’s not illegal or harmful to anyone, no it’s not! Life is there to take by the reins and make the most of. If adventures and spontaneity make you happy and excited, then fantastic! Off you go! Good luck!
